Rev. Susan Whitley is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, and has been under appointment in the Oklahoma Annual Conference since 2006. She has served churches in the Enid District, Muskogee District, Council Oak District and has been in Purcell since July 2020. She graduated from Phillips Theological Seminary in 2009 with an M.Div. She is on various Conference Ministry teams, including Heartland DCOM, Annual Conference Corp., Conference Transitions Ministry Team, and LCDMT as chair.

 

Susan is married to Rev. Mark Whitley, also an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church serving at Lindsay UMC. They have three children; Bryan, Chris (married to Kim), and Caitlin Whitley Hayes.   They have four grandchildren, Adalynn Renae Whitley, and Olivia Mae Whitley of Norman; and Bradley Bollman & Jackson Bollman of Edmond.

 

Susan grew up in South Louisiana, earning a degree in Early Childhood Education from McNeese St. University, and later an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. Before entering the ministry full time, she taught elementary school for over 20 years.

Rev. Whitley describes herself as a sports nut who gets easily distracted during March Madness. She writes "I love the New Orleans Saints, OK State Football, and Thunder Basketball. Who Dat? Go Pokes, and Thunder Up! "
